Athens, Day 1 recap

Initially I was sort of disappointed that our Athens hotel didn't have any workout facilities, but hey, I don't have a treadmill at home, and I can't let the awesome Hyatt Place spoil me.
My two mile circuit in the neighborhood surrounding the hotel was pleasantly surprising. I was able to see some beautiful antebellum homes that I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. And the weather was perfect, with low humidity.
Since our 2006 visit, the Mellow Mushroom has moved into upscale quarters on East Clayton Street. Also newsworthy from yesterday, I saw a guy leaning on the 40 Watt building, peeing in front of everyone in broad daylight. I think he was too trashed to realize a) he was in public, b) it was daylight, c) and there were only about 1000 people around.
Today it's off to Weaver D's for a Murmurs/fanclub meetup, with the show in Atlanta tonight.
