Athens, Day 1 recap

Initially I was sort of disappointed that our Athens hotel didn't have any workout facilities, but hey, I don't have a treadmill at home, and I can't let the awesome Hyatt Place spoil me.
My two mile circuit in the neighborhood surrounding the hotel was pleasantly surprising. I was able to see some beautiful antebellum homes that I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. And the weather was perfect, with low humidity.
Since our 2006 visit, the Mellow Mushroom has moved into upscale quarters on East Clayton Street. Also newsworthy from yesterday, I saw a guy leaning on the 40 Watt building, peeing in front of everyone in broad daylight. I think he was too trashed to realize a) he was in public, b) it was daylight, c) and there were only about 1000 people around.
Today it's off to Weaver D's for a Murmurs/fanclub meetup, with the show in Atlanta tonight.

Vacation in Athens is calling

Hez, the LMGC, and I will be heading out in the morning for Athens. We'll meet up with Steve and the DivaGeek there. A horde of Murmurs folks will be dining at Weaver D's for lunch Saturday before heading to the R.E.M. show at Lakewood Amphitheater Saturday evening. Then it's back to Athens to recuperate via Athfest and home on Monday.
Last time down, we got to see the trestle and the steeple. This time, my goal is the kudzu field from the front of Murmur. We have a map and a can of Off.

Like a rolling stone

Three of the six of you who read this already know, but the CTs and ultrasounds of my adrenal glands came back clear. I still have swelling in my neck, but my doctor thinks that's related to the sore throat that won't die. She is culturing that and I'm on medicine, so hopefully we're on the right track. The ongoing fatigue and recurrent swollen glands are just part of the mono that won't die, it seems. Nothing more serious.
But. The radiologist did see "numerous" gallstones. I don't know how many "numerous" means, but I'm thinking, "too damn many for me to count." I am not having any problems, so it's a wait and see thing at this point. My doctor said I'll probably need my gallbladder out "in the next 30 years or so."
I'm glad you can't get brain stones - I'd probably end up with them there, too.
